Description
When I was a high school teacher, one of the courses that I taught was technical illustration. Though most of the course projects centered on technology/industry themes, some projects were open-ended and students could choose a subject. One of the illustration techniques that I covered was stippling. For one of the stippling projects, many students chose people as subjects. The stippling projects (and other projects) employed pen & ink drawing techniques.
I created the stippling illustration above in Photoshop while using a mouse. The purpose of the enlarged version was to show how spacing between the consistent dot sizes helped create the illusion of shade and shadow.
